Personal and Professional Background
I obtained my LL.B degree from Osgoode Hall Law School, and was called to the Ontario Bar in February 1998. I then joined the national law firm of Fraser Milner Casgrain (now Dentons Canada LLP) where I specialized in the areas of estate and tax law. After three years of practice in the Toronto office, and nearly five more in the Ottawa office, I left Fraser Milner Casgrain in the summer of 2005 to launch my independent estates law practice. Twelve years later, I am happy to have returned to a collegial environment at Low Murchison Radnoff LLP
Although I was born in Cardiff, UK, I now consider Ottawa to be my home town. My family settled here in 1982 and I obtained my B.A. Honours in modern languages from Carleton University in 1992. I met my husband, Jeremy Kerr, in Ottawa while we were both still in high school and we were married in Stittsville in 1995. After seven years in Toronto, we moved into the neighbourhood of Mooney's Bay in November 2000, where we continue to live today with our two children (born in June 2003 and May 2005). As well as spending time with our families, we enjoy hiking, camping, running, travel, home renovations and music.
I have acted as instructor and tutor for the Bar Admission Course, and have spoken at conferences held by Osgoode Hall Law School, the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Canadian Bar Association, the Carleton County Law Association, the Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners and others.
